The structure consisting of bone and cartilage located in the midline of the nostrils is called the septum. The curvature (deviation) of the septum directly affects the appearance and functionality, especially nasal problems. An operation called septoplasty is performed to eliminate these problems.
Symptoms of septum deviation include; difficulty in breathing, nasal congestion, discharge, sinusitis, nosebleeds, facial and headache, postnasal drip and dry mouth. All these symptoms negatively affect the comfort of life.
Septoplasty is performed under local or general anesthesia according to the needs of the patient. By making an incision on one side of the septum through the nose, the part causing the obstruction is removed or corrected. After the operation, no tampons are used and there is no visible change in the nose.
