Who are Eligible Candidates for Hair Transplant Operation?

Hair transplant operation is applied to women and men over 22 years old, whose general health is suitable for this process. The decision whether the person is suitable for the procedure is made as a result of the examination, under the guidance of a specialist physician. In addition to whether the person is suitable for hair transplantation during the examination, which technique will be applied during the operation and possible results are also determined. In the meantime, if there is a risk that the person carries, information about this subject is also given.

In case the person has a serious skin problem, it is aimed to eliminate this problem first.

If there is a hair loss that develops due to age or hormonal factors, this period is expected to completely pass. Considering that hair loss will completely stop after the age of 40, it is possible to reach an effective result in one session.

What causes hair loss ?

Hair loss develops due to the following reasons:

  • Genetic factors,
  • Diseases affecting the scalp, such as ringworm,
  • Some chronic (heart, sugar, etc.) ailments,
  • Problems related to thyroid hormone,
  • Medicines with side effects of hair loss,
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Wrong or inadequate hair care,
  • Anemia due to iron deficiency,
  • Neurological or stress psychological disorders,
  • Incorrect or malnutrition,
  • Hormone changes in menopause, pregnancy and postpartum in women.

Some of the hair loss caused by the above reasons are temporary and some are permanent.

Hair that grows within a certain period of time in the natural life cycle is weakened over time. After the loss, new hair comes out of the same hair follicle and the natural hair cycle continues in this way. However, intense spills during the day and openings in some regions are indicative of a problem.

There are many methods developed to prevent hair loss. However, the most effective of these methods is considered as hair transplant operation. During the hair transplant operation, the problem is eliminated by natural methods, since hair follicles in the head area of the person that do not affect without losing are used.

Before the hair transplant operation…

Before the hair transplant operation, hair analysis is carried out so that the hair to be transplanted has a natural appearance. Meanwhile, the number of hair follicles (grafts) planned to be transplanted is calculated. In addition to the blood test, it may be desirable to perform other tests, if necessary. As a result of these tests, if the patient is eligible for an operation, the donor region (the section where the grafts will be taken) is determined.

In men, the donor area is generally nape, but if this region does not have sufficient graft, the chest, leg and beard areas can also be used as a donor area.

The points that patients should pay attention before the procedure are as follows:

  • Intake of blood-thinning medications such as aspirin should be stopped at least one week before the operation,
  • If alcohol and cigarettes are used, these substances should be left 1 week before the procedure,
  • An outfit that can be worn and removed easily, such as a shirt, should be preferred on the day of the procedure,
  • If there is any medication used, the doctor should be informed about this issue before the operation,
  • Caffeinated beverages should not be consumed before the procedure,
  • Products such as jelly, solution, lotion, hair spray or conditioner should not be applied to the hair before hair transplantation,
  • A light meal should be eaten just before the operation,
  • Personal cleanliness should be considered before the operation.
  • In addition, it should not be forgotten that hair transplantation is a medical operation and necessary precautions should be taken

Hair Transplantation Operation Process

Local anesthesia is applied to the patient before the hair transplant operation is started. Next, the front hairline, which is personally designed for the patient, is determined.

To perform a comfortable procedure, the hair in the donor area is shortened and then the grafts are removed from this area one by one. During this application, grafts are not removed at regular intervals to avoid dilution in the donor area. After the graft removal process is completed, the healthy grafts removed are separated and sorted

Channels are opened for planting grafts in the region to be transplanted, and grafted grafts are transferred to these channels. The duration of the operation varies depending on the number of grafts to be taken, but it is between 6-8 hours. After the operation, the patient is discharged on the same day.

Hair Transplant Operation for Women

Although intense hair loss and dilutions are less common in women than men, this affects women more psychologically. In addition to genetic factors, stress, age, various diseases, seasonal transitions, as well as hormonal changes such as pregnancy, menopause, birth can cause male pattern hair loss in women. Some hair loss can be corrected with drug treatment to eliminate the cause, but hair transplant operation is the most definitive solution for women in cases of irreversible hair loss.

Hair transplant operation, which is thought to be only for men, can be successfully applied to women. The procedure is continued with the usual course of hair transplantation, as in male patients. However, in female-type hair loss, hair transplantation becomes difficult as the hair loss is evenly distributed over the hair surface. Therefore, hair transplantation is not recommended for female type hair loss. Hair analysis, which is the most important stage of hair transplantation in women, is performed according to the type of hair loss and successful results are obtained.
