After the Rhinoplasty Operation

Swelling and pain can be seen in the first 24 hours after surgery. The doctor will be given the necessary medications to relieve these complaints.
Apart from this, it is normal for a small amount of bloody leakage from the nose for the first few days. The head should always be kept upright to minimize bleeding and swelling. However, in order to keep the bleeding under control, the tampons placed are removed within 1-2 days and a nasal splint is attached to the nose, which gives the final shape. This splint is removed within a week; stitches are taken.
After the operation, bruises may occur around the nose and eyes. This is quite natural and does not require concern. Symptoms such as swelling and bruising will disappear completely within 2 weeks. Cold application can be done in this process.
The things that can be done to speed up the healing process after the operation are as follows:
- The nose should be protected from all kinds of blows,
- Moderate and heavy sports activities should be avoided,
- Take care when taking a shower,
- The nose should not be wiped,
- Movements such as smiling and laughing should not cause excessive work of facial muscles,
- By restricting the movement of the upper lip, the teeth should be gently brushed,
- Glasses should not be worn for at least 4 weeks,
- Should not be exposed to the sun; When going out, use sunscreen with at least SPF30 rating,
- Smoking and alcohol should be avoided for the period determined by the doctor,
- Headwear such as t-shirts and sweaters should not be worn.
